Congregational History

For over 50 years, Mennonites have served the needy of Durham and provided a close fellowship for a growing number of Christians in the area.

The church began in 1969, when Frank and Evelyn Nice arrived with their four children to start a mission church sponsored by the Virginia Mennonite Mission Board.  Their years of hard work and God’s many blessings built up the fellowship and established its reputation as a socially active, caring church of peace where Christ is central and Scripture is seriously studied.

Durham Mennonite Church welcomes all people interested in learning more about Jesus Christ and His way of love, peace, and service to others.

We are a small and growing church, where everyone counts and is actively involved. We enjoy fellowship meals and celebrate life’s transitions together. We welcome visitors and anyone who wants to be in fellowship with us.
